Integrative genomics reveals paths to sex dimorphism in Salix purpurea L

چکیده
Abstract Sex dimorphism and gene expression were studied in developing catkins 159 F2 individuals from the bioenergy crop Salix purpurea, potential mechanisms pathways for regulating sex development explored. Differential expression, eQTL, bisulfite sequencing, network analysis used to characterize dimorphism, detect candidate master regulator genes, identify through which determination region (SDR) may mediate dimorphism. Eleven genes are presented as candidates regulators of sex, supported by analyses. These include putatively involved hormone signaling, epigenetic modification, regulation transcription. eQTL revealed a suite transcription factors secondary metabolism floral that predicted be under direct control region. Furthermore, data sequencing small RNA strong differences between males females would implicate both these processes pathways. indicate mechanism purpurea is likely different observed related genus Populus. This further demonstrates dynamic nature SDRs plants, involves multitude high rate turnover.

Integrative genomics reveals frequent somatic NF1 mutations in sporadic pheochromocytomas.
Pheochromocytomas are neuroendocrine tumors of the adrenal medulla which can occur either sporadically or in the context of hereditary tumor syndromes. Whereas the genetic background of hereditary pheochromocytomas is becoming rather well-defined, very little is known about the more common sporadic form of the disease which constitutes ∼70% of all cases. In this study, we elucidate some of the ...

Integrative genomics studies have greatly advanced our understanding of cardiovascular pathophysiology over the last decade. Here, we highlight the strengths and challenges of this cutting-edge approach and provide examples where novel insights have arisen through the integration of multi-level genomic information and cardiac physiology. Going forward, the integration of comprehensive next-gene...

Combinatorial approaches that integrate conventional pathology with genomic profiling and functional genomics have begun to enhance our understanding of the genetic basis of breast cancer. These methods have identified key genotypic-phenotypic correlations in different breast cancer subtypes that have led to the discovery of genetic dependencies that drive their behavior. Moreover, this knowled...
متن کاملSexual dimorphism in airway responsiveness to sex hormones in rabbits.
TO THE EDITOR: Recently, Massaro and Massaro (4) demonstrated a sexual dimorphism of alveolar size in male and female adult rats and mice and that estrogen receptor (ER)and ERare required for this sexual dimorphism. Our group recently showed that a similar phenomenon of sexual dimorphism presents in airway responsiveness to sex hormones in rabbits. We studied the direct effect of sex hormones (...
متن کاملIntegrative genomics reveals molecular and clinical heterogeneity in central nervous system primitive neuroectodermal tumors in children.
Through advances in genome science, we are becoming increasingly aware that tumors that appear identical under the pathologist's microscope can be very different in their genetic composition and clinical behavior. Pediatric embryonal brain tumors share a characteristic histological feature—densely packed sheets of cells with hyperchromatic nuclei and scant cytoplasm. Despite their common appear...
